"Humpty Should Have Worn a Seatbelt" is a road safety campaign targeted towards young people to raise awareness about seatbelt safety through a positive message. It was designed to appeal to this audience through using humour and familiar childhood characters to evoke a sense of nostalgia with storybook visuals.

By using the character of Humpty Dumpty, audiences can understand where the rest of this story will go as a result of Humpty not wearing his seatbelt. The fragility of the eggs in the vehicle will hopefully make people relate to how fragile they themselves are in a vehicle, and remember to always fasten their seatbelt even as a rear seat passenger.

This campaign was created as a final year design project at the Queensland University of Technology and was chosen by Re:act as the selected university campaign for Queensland.

Hi I'm Tiffany Fouché, a Brisbane-based designer and I created this campaign as a final year design project in my degree at QUT. The process of designing this work really impacted my point of view on the importance of wearing seatbelts for both drivers and passengers in a vehicle. By interviewing some of my friends for design research, I found out how many didn't realise the importance of having every passenger wear their seatbelt and how even a low-impact crash can cause major injuries if people are not wearing their seatbelt, or not wearing it correctly. In more recent years, there has been a lack of seatbelt safety advertising which was evident in my peer's responses. By having my campaign chosen by Re:act, I am more confident that my illustrative design style can reach audiences and effectively portray important messages.

Thanks to Re:act and its partners:
